Community buildings, a CBD fit-out, road resurfacing, drainage and marine infrastructure feature among Melbourne’s current construction procurement opportunities. The most immediate deadline in this selection is the North Melbourne Community Hub head contractor expression of interest, closing on Monday 9 November.

An open closing date is only the first check. Prequalification, briefing attendance and access to tender documents can determine whether a contractor can submit a conforming response. Two further works packages with already-passed mandatory site visits are identified separately below.

Buildings and community facilities

North Melbourne Community Hub: EOI closes first

Buyer: City of Melbourne · Reference: CN103042 · Closes: 9 November 2026 at 11 am.

The council’s current tender register advertises an expression of interest for the hub’s head contractor construction works contract. Treat this as an EOI stage, rather than assuming that it is the final priced construction tender.

The council’s project information places the new hub at 91–115 Melrose Street and describes a shared home for family, youth, ageing and inclusion services. Its published programme anticipates construction beginning in late 2027 and completion in the 2028–29 financial year. Tenderers should obtain the EOI requirements directly through the council portal; the public register does not expose the full response schedules or briefing conditions.

St Kilda Adventure Playground clubhouse

Buyer: City of Port Phillip · Reference: RFT000453 · Closes: 25 November 2026 at 5 pm.

The council tender register lists construction of the St Kilda Adventure Playground clubhouse. This is a building opportunity for contractors to investigate through the supplier portal. The public listing confirms the project and deadline; drawings, programme, site access and any mandatory inspection requirements need to be established from the tender documents.

Medical Panels fit-out at 485 La Trobe Street

Buyer: Victorian WorkCover Authority, trading as WorkSafe Victoria · Reference: FOL26/8005 · Closes: 27 November 2026 at 2 pm.

WorkSafe is procuring a design and construct contractor for expanded Medical Panels accommodation over two floors. The public scope includes at least 12 large hearing rooms, examination and waiting areas, offices, security, ICT/AV and building services. Practical completion is targeted for 16 August 2027.

Attendance deadline: a mandatory site visit is listed for 17 November at 10.30 am, with registration closing on 16 November at 2 pm. An online briefing is also listed for 9 November, although its registration deadline was 6 November. Check the official notice and latest updates immediately for participation arrangements.

Roads and traffic signals

Metropolitan road resurfacing

Buyer: Department of Transport and Planning · Reference: DOT45917 · Closes: 20 November 2026 at 3.30 pm.

The resurfacing notice covers various roads in the metropolitan region for 2026–27 and specifies G2-RSS prequalification. The public page does not provide a road-by-road schedule or quantities. Obtain the tender package before assessing crew availability, delivery sequencing and traffic management requirements.

Pedestrian headstart signal upgrades

Buyer: Department of Transport and Planning · Reference: DOT46193 · Closes: 23 November 2026 at 3.30 pm.

This traffic signal package includes PROM supply and installation and minor signal changes, including signal-group splitting and LED Give Way to Pedestrian signs. STS prequalification at tender close is an explicit eligibility requirement. Contractors should review the response documents for the locations and delivery requirements before pricing.

Drainage: Nott Street upgrade

Buyer: City of Port Phillip · Reference: RFT000450 · Closes: 24 November 2026 at 2 pm.

The official council register lists stormwater drainage upgrade works on Nott Street. For a civil contractor considering a response, useful early questions concern the extent of excavation, existing services, reinstatement and access arrangements. These are matters to establish from the project documents; the public register provides only a short notice and requires supplier registration for full details.

Marine works: Station Pier fender renewal

Buyer: Ports Victoria · Reference: T421509 · Closes: 30 November 2026 at 5 pm.

Ports Victoria is seeking experienced engineering construction companies to design and implement a renewed fender system at Station Pier’s Outer West berth. The notice calls for experience in marine infrastructure planning, design and inspection.

Access to specification attachments requires a signed confidentiality deed. The public notice records a site briefing held on 13 October; prospective respondents should confirm any attendance or access conditions with the buyer. Use the official tender page to obtain the current requirements.

City of Melbourne also lists CN102868, its statutory planning, building and construction consultancy services panel, closing on 25 November 2026 at 11 am. This is a professional services panel opportunity. Consultants can find the notice through the council’s procurement portal.

Still open, but mandatory site visits have passed

The following packages remain listed as open, but their published attendance requirements materially restrict access for a new bidder:

Station Pier maintenance and pile rehabilitation

Ports Victoria · T421508 · closes 11 December 2026 at 2 pm. The tender notice makes both the briefing and site visit prerequisites to bid consideration. The advertised session took place on 5 November, with registration closing on 30 October. Firms that did not attend should not assume they can submit an eligible bid; seek a formal clarification through the buyer’s tender forum.

BD Arnold Lawn works, Springvale Botanical Cemetery

Southern Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust · RFT-1018 · closes 24 November 2026 at 2 pm. The public notice says the mandatory visit was held on 4 November and that non-attendance invalidates a submission. It also requires an approved or prequalified DTP contractor for the external works portion. This package is relevant principally to firms that have already met its attendance conditions, subject to any subsequent buyer-issued amendment.

Before committing estimating time

Start with the attendance and prequalification checks, then obtain the full documents and current addenda. Confirm the question cut-off, contract form, submission schedules and delivery programme. Where council documents sit behind supplier registration, the public title alone cannot establish the full scope or eligibility.
