Sharjah Opens First Phase of New Dubai Road Links

Al Taawun connections open in the first stage

Emirates News Agency reported on 4 November 2026 the opening of the first phase of new road connections between Sharjah and Dubai. The stage includes a partial opening of Al Taawun Interchange and routes from Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road towards Expo Centre Sharjah.

The announced next phase includes full opening of the upper junction and tunnel at Al Taawun, further bridges and junctions along industrial streets, and work at Al Khulafa Al Rashideen Interchange. The project therefore continues beyond the initial traffic opening.

Why it matters. A phased network opening brings some movements into service while neighbouring work packages continue. Clear distinction between the operational routes and the remaining construction helps explain what the milestone delivers for road users. WAM report, 4 November
